Hello! And welcome to my blog! I am thrilled to have you here. My name is Olia, I’m a 28-year-old young feminist from Belarus living in US and trying to figure out this thing called life. I’ve learned a lot over the years and have discovered that I am a nerd when it comes to personal finance, self-development , simplifying my life and learning new things. So I want this blog to be an outlet where I can share these lessons with others. I live in Dallas, TX where I’ve been over 8 years now. Over the course of the last five years or so, I have discovered the freedom, security, and peace of mind that comes with being in control of personal finances, paying off debt and understanding how money works. This has helped me tremendously, as I had no financial or emotional support from family.
So I want to share the lessons I have learned and inspire other young people to take control of their financial lives through this blog so that we can all have more freedom, independence, and courage to pursue our passions. What I noticed is that money is an important part of our lives and touches almost every aspect of it, so this blog will cover many areas. I find it fascinating that we spend so much time on our education, careers, appearance, learning about new diets, relationship and dating advice, social status, shopping, news, TV shows, and a host of other things. Yet, somehow, money is always a taboo topic. We are uncomfortable talking about money, because for most people, who live above their means, it creates a lot of anxiety and stress because they don’t know how to manage it and many are well over their heads in debt. I have been there as well.
Moreover, a lot of women today still believe that if they marry well, they don’t really have to worry about finances, because their husbands can take care of that. But even if you marry the most generous man on earth, unexpected things happen, like divorce, layoffs, serious medical conditions, and other emergencies, and a lot of women find themselves completely helpless and with an empty nest egg. That is a very scary place to be. I have been there also and know what it’s like. So I will share how I found the strength to learn the tools on how to become independent both financially and emotionally.
Whether you have stumbled upon my blog by accident, or if you’ve heard about it from myself or someone else, please sign up for future posts. I would be thrilled to have you go on this journey with me. My vision is to turn this into a community of learning, encouragement and support for young people who like myself are on a journey to financial freedom and intentional living.
